Featured: Vice President Charles G. Dawes (R-IL) served as the 30th Vice President of the United States under Calvin Coolidge from 1925 to 1929. He was already a distinguished financier and civil servant—one of his key contributions was co-authoring the Dawes Plan, which restructured German reparations after World War I, a role that earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 1925. Before becoming vice president, Dawes had been U.S. Comptroller of the Currency, Director of the Budget, and later U.S. Ambassador to Great Britain. A man of diverse talents, he was also a composer—his piece “Melody in A Major” would eventually become the popular song “It’s All in the Game.”
